Marilyn Thomas Contemporary Textiles

Marilyn works from her studio in Salhouse, Norfolk.  She makes felted knitwear - jackets, cardigans, shawls, shrugs and bags.  She uses techniques that include hand and machine knitting, felting and crochet.  Marilyn uses traditional and contemporary Fair Isle patterns to create colorful, textural knits which are then felted to make rich, comforting garments. Marilyn takes her inspiration from the north Norfolk coast, nomadic tribes people, and the colors, textures, intricate shapes and patterns that are to be found in the countryside around us.  She is also inspired by the
